Pig-loving Florida couple welcome oinkers with issues at Yesahcan Sanctuary

ARCADIA – A truck crashed on the way to the slaughterhouse, suspending Milo’s day with death.

That fortuitous incident is how Milo the pig ended up at Yesahcan Sanctuary, a 10-acre animal rescue in DeSoto County operate by Jody and Karla Dumas.

4 several years ago, Jody and Karla bought the land 10 miles west of Arcadia. They were living in Sarasota but experienced just rescued a chicken – an obese gal named “Lady Gaga” who couldn’t wander due to the fact she was so fats – and they desired the area to preserve a lot more.

Due to the fact then, they’ve commenced the “Yesahcan Sanctuary” nonprofit, recruited about 20 standard volunteers and welcomed more than 100 animals, including cows, goats, horses, ducks, chickens, sheep, turkeys and puppies.
